E tuttavia Lasch coglie il punto essenziale della questione, molto più dei cosiddetti “marxisti”, poveri positivisti subalterni di sinistra cultori dell’ideologia del progresso. Lasch è però “imbarazzante” sia per i ceti di sinistra postmoderni, di cui aveva precocemente diagnosticato la natura narcisistica, sia per la cultura dominante, che ovviamente gli preferisce generici tuttologi chiacchieroni che si limitano a denunciare forze anonime ed impersonali e non indicano mai con il dito gli oligarchi che ci dominano (la società liquida di Bauman, il destino della tecnica di Galimberti, ecc.). [E.Brown] [..] The issue posed by QE2 is the sovereign right of a country to print its own money, debt-free and interest-free.  Whether conservative, liberal, or populist, any true patriot would support that; and we should support it not just for the United States but for all countries. Mr. North perceives me to be a threat and has declared he will destroy my credibility, just as Stephen Zarlenga perceived me to be a threat when I disagreed with his 100% reserve solution.  It’s too bad, as I was once an admirer of both and we could have been on the same team. The trouble is, the threat is not a person or a book; it’s an idea, and it’s already out there and has blown the grass. It’s moving and picking up steam of its own accord. Gold won’t work and the 100% reserve solution won’t work; in fact they’re very close to the same thing.  The Euro system is in the nature of a gold/100% reserve/fixed currency solution [come dice anche FOFOA], and it has just proved that those won’t work. A public credit system will work, and there are already finer minds than mine working on the details, globally.
